Hello! I am Agnes
My name is Agnes Hjalmarsson and I'm a Swedish oil painter and content creator. My work explores themes of identity, culture, and belonging, often drawing from my own mixed heritage and personal experiences.
After a short time in fine art school, I realized the academic path wasn’t for me. So for the past few years, I’ve been carving out my own way as a self-taught, full-time artist, documenting the process on Instagram and YouTube, and building a community of artists who care deeply about using art to say something real.
Portraiture as a Mirror is a fun, course, and workshop designed to push you as an artist, both in terms of technical skill and creative expression. I'll be using self-portraiture as a basis, but you can also complete the course by painting another person.Â
We’ll also explore how artists throughout history have used portraiture to express a range of emotions, from vulnerability and identity to politics and play. With different modules, covering a bit of art history, hands-on exercises, and time to create, with prompts designed to help you develop the meaning behind your pieces.Â
Whether you’re looking to improve your technical skill or looking to reconnect with yourself creatively, I hope this course offers a space to explore and create something that feels like you.
